Elderly Woman Found Murdered In Her Home In Kakamega.


Police in Kakamega County launched investigations into the killing of an 87-year-old woman who was found dead inside her house in Lukume Location, Kabras West Sub-County.

The incident was reported shortly after midnight on June 9, 2026, by a resident of Mawang’i ‘B’ Village who had gone to visit his mother at around 8.00 pm on Monday.


According to the report, the man became concerned after finding the house locked from the outside with a padlock, an unusual situation as he knew his mother had not travelled.

He alerted neighbours, and together they decided to break into the house.

Upon entering, they discovered the body of Floridah Halima Masaka, 87, lying on her bed.

The mattress was soaked in blood, indicating she had suffered severe injuries.

Police officers who visited the scene found the deceased with visible wounds on the forehead and the left side of the head.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators as homicide detectives commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

The body was moved to Place ‘M’ Mortuary, where it will undergo a post-mortem examination to help establish the cause of death.

Elsewhere, police in Meru County have launched investigations into the death of a 58-year-old woman whose body was discovered in a maize plantation in the Lodwar area of Mutuati Sub-County.

According to a report made at Kabachi Police Post on June 8, 2026, a man alerted authorities after receiving a phone call from a neighbour informing him that a body had been spotted lying in a farm.

Police visited the scene and found the body of Susana Mukoiti lying on her back in a maize field

Preliminary observations revealed blood stains around her mouth and bruises on both legs, raising suspicions of foul play.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was transferred to the Maua Nyambene Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.

Police have opened a suspected murder investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding her death and identify those responsible.

And police in Kirinyaga County have arrested a man accused of killing a fellow villager following an assault that occurred in April this year.

The incident took place at Chema Village in Ruiru Location, Kirinyaga West Sub-County, where a dispute allegedly erupted between Isaac Maina and Moses Mwangi Maina.

During the confrontation, Isaac Maina is said to have struck Moses Mwangi Maina on the back of the head with a sharp spade, inflicting serious injuries.

The victim was admitted for treatment but later succumbed to the injuries on April 21, 2026.

Following his death, the suspect reportedly went into hiding and evaded arrest for several weeks.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kirinyaga West launched a search for the suspect and, acting on intelligence, tracked him to a hideout in Ngong town, where he was arrested on Monday.

The suspect was escorted to Baricho Police Station and is being held pending arraignment before the Baricho Law Court.

Police said investigations into the murder case are complete and the suspect is expected to face murder charges.
