Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on Kenyans to prioritize peace and unity as essential for the nation’s progress.
Speaking during a mobile interview on a local radio stations to mark his 63rd birthday, Kenyatta emphasized the importance of harmony for both individual and collective success.
He urged citizens to reject divisive politics that foster conflict, advocating instead for love and understanding among all.
“I thank God for the years I’ve been blessed with and continue to pray for peace so that we can remain united as a nation,” he shared.
Kenyatta added, “These days, I don’t speak much, but I want to wish peace and unity to all Kenyans.
We are all human with needs; let’s put aside our differences and come together as one.”
As for his birthday plans, he mentioned spending the day with friends in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where he is attending the 15th High-Level Retreat focused on promoting peace and stability across Africa.
He reflected on past birthdays, which he traditionally celebrated with family and close friends.
“I usually celebrate with family, children, grandchildren, and friends.
This year, I’m here for the meetings, but I hope to gather with friends afterward,” he noted.
Kenyatta ended the interview on a light note by dedicating the UB40 hit “I Got You Babe” to his wife, Margaret, after the radio host promised to play “Hakuna Mungu kama Wewe” for him.
He also shared that while his favorite dish has always been ‘Nyama Choma,’ he’s now cautious about indulging in it due to health considerations.
His appearance marks a return to the public eye after a period of speculation about his health.
