Moroccan law enforcement, in collaboration with Spanish security forces, has intercepted a colossal 1.488 tonnes (3,280lb) of cocaine in a combined operation.
The illicit substance was cleverly concealed within banana boxes inside a shipping container aboard a vessel that originated from South America and was en route to Turkey.
This significant seizure occurred on Tuesday at the Tanger Med port in northern Morocco.
Authorities suspect that the cocaine was part of an international drug smuggling operation and are actively conducting investigations to unravel the full extent of the network.

Remarkably, this bust follows closely on the heels of another successful operation, where authorities seized almost 363kg of cocaine from a truck attempting to enter Morocco via the border with Mauritania.
Morocco, located in northern Africa, has gained notoriety as a crucial route for drug smuggling from South America to Europe.
The recent interceptions underscore the ongoing efforts to curb the illicit drug trade through vigilant and collaborative law enforcement measures.
