In Masita village, Bondo sub-county, Siaya County, an 11-year-old girl named Gabriela Atieno met a tragic end after allegedly being beaten by her parents for stealing Sh.200.
The money belonged to her father, Cornel Ogeno, and the incident unfolded on a Sunday evening.
Siaya County Police Commander, Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo, reported that the parents repeatedly beat Gabriela until she lost consciousness.
In a desperate attempt to seek help, they rushed her to Bondo sub-county hospital, where, sadly, she was declared dead upon arrival.

A nurse at the hospital alerted the authorities, revealing that Gabriela’s lifeless body bore multiple bruises.
Subsequently, police officers visited the hospital, confirming the presence of visible injuries on the child’s body.
Mr. Kimaiyo stated that both parents have been apprehended for further investigation.
The deceased girl’s body, displaying various injuries, has been transferred to the Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary, awaiting an autopsy.
This distressing incident sheds light on the severe consequences of alleged parental abuse in response to a perceived theft by their child.
