Villagers killed one hyena after a clan of wild animals attacked a herd of sheep in a village in Isinya, Kajiado County.
The incident happened on June 5 in the Olmeiyoyi location, police, and locals said.
A cackle of four hyenas had attacked the sheep and some cows and tried to snatch some away prompting herders taking care of them to act.
During the attack, the hyenas injured two sheep and one cow, officials said.
In the process, three herders were injured as they fought off the vicious animals.
They raised alarm and locals responded killing one hyena as the others escaped into the nearby expansive Nairobi National Park.
The wild animals had strayed from the park in search of food causing the conflict.
The injured victims were rushed to Lions Medical Centre Kajiado for treatment in fair condition.
Police officers and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) personnel visited the scene and talked to the locals as part of efforts to calm the situation.
Such incidents of wildlife-human conflict have been on the rise in the areas near the national parks amid calls to address the trend.
Last month, villagers killed at least ten lions in Amboseli in a similar conflict after they had killed 12 sheep.
