At least 14 people were killed following a grisly road accident along the Nakuru-Naivasha highway involving a Pwani University bus and a 14-seater matatu.
Rift Valley police boss Tom Odera said 12 people were killed on the spot.
He said there are fears the toll may rise.
“The bus rolled and killed 14 on the spot. We may have more casualties,” he said.
He said the bus was ferrying about 30 people, among them students and teachers, to sports competitions when the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon.
The driver of the bus is said to have lost control and hit at least five vehicles before rolling into a ditch.
A number of injured persons were taken to nearby hospitals for immediate medical attention.
