A 16-year-old Form Two girl from Kitengela has been reunited with her family after being missing for four days.
The dramatic rescue occurred when police officers conducted a sting operation in the neighborhood, ultimately leading to the arrest of a 40-year-old man suspected to be a boda boda rider.
Family members, relieved by her return, shared that the ordeal began when the girl failed to come home on Wednesday, raising immediate concerns for her safety.
Investigations revealed that the suspect, allegedly a boda boda rider in the area, had confined the girl in his house while he went about his daily routines, only returning in the evening.
The girl’s disappearance stemmed from a seemingly innocuous event – a trip to the cobbler to mend her school shoes.
It was during this excursion that she encountered the suspect, who purportedly offered to take her to the cobbler the following day.
However, instead of returning her shoes as promised, he allegedly lured her to his home under false pretenses.
Recounting her harrowing experience to authorities, the girl described how she was deceived into accompanying the suspect to his house, where she was subsequently confined against her will.
Reportedly, the suspect would bring food and alcohol to the house, coercing the girl to consume it after providing him with sustenance.
In a stroke of bravery, the girl managed to access her mobile phone while the suspect was momentarily occupied, using it to send images of her surroundings to her mother.
This crucial communication enabled law enforcement to launch a successful rescue operation, culminating in her safe return to her family.
Following her rescue, the girl was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Meanwhile, the suspect awaits arraignment in court in Kajiado, scheduled for Monday.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers young individuals face, highlighting the importance of vigilance and swift action in ensuring their safety and well-being.
