67-Year-Old Man Found Dead Inside Commercial House In Meru

Police in Igoji, Meru County, have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 67-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted by a relative.

The deceased, identified as Jestus Micheni Mwenda, was found dead inside his commercial house on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The incident was reported to Igoji Police Station at about 12:45 p.m., prompting officers from the station and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Igoji Sub-County, to visit the scene.

According to the police report, officers found Mwenda’s lifeless body lying on his back in a pool of blood.

Preliminary investigations established that the deceased had allegedly been seriously assaulted by a distant relative identified as “Micheni.”

The body reportedly had bruises on both hands and both legs, as well as a deep cut on the left leg, which was said to have been broken.

The scene was processed and documented by detectives before the body was removed to Kanyakine Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the death, including the whereabouts of the suspect.

And police in Buuri West, Meru County, launched investigations into the suspected murder of an unidentified man whose body was found near Mia Mia Moja River in the Mutumba area.

The body was discovered on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Police officers who visited the scene found the body of an unidentified adult male lying in a prone position, with his trousers reportedly below his buttocks.

Preliminary investigations established that the man had been seen in Mutumba the previous day, appearing to be mentally unwell and epileptic. He was also reportedly vomiting blood at times and claiming to be
searching for his late brother’s homestead.

The deceased had an amputated right hand and a stab wound on the left side of his forehead and face. Police also reported the presence of white discharge on his genitals, details that are expected to form part of the ongoing forensic investigations.

The scene was photographed, processed and documented by police officers.

The body was later moved to the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being held pending identification and a postmortem examination.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and are appealing for information that may help establish his identity and the events leading to his death.
