A 70-year-old man is currently in police custody for the alleged murder of his 32-year-old son in Kirinyaga, following a land dispute.
Police commander Johnson Wachira from Gichugu stated that Francis Njagi, the suspect, was apprehended due to the incident that occurred in Gwama village, Karumandi Ward.
Njagi, now held at Kianyaga police station, reportedly engaged in a heated argument with his son, James Mwobe, concerning a piece of land.

According to the suspect’s wife, Irene Njagi, their son intended to plant macadamia on the disputed land.
The disagreement escalated, leading to the suspect fatally stabbing his son, who was later declared dead upon arrival at Kianyaga sub-county hospital.
“A neighbor rushed him to the hospital following a distress call from the deceased’s mother,” mentioned the police.
The deceased’s body has been transported to Kerugoya Mortuary, and ongoing investigations will determine the course of action against the suspect.
