Police Reservists To Have Their Unique Uniforms In Changes, Kindiki Says

All members of the National Police Reserve (NPR) will have a unique uniform as part of ongoing reforms in the unit.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki said Thursday that the design for the NPR uniform is almost complete.

The government will kit all NPR officers including footwear to enable the officers to execute their duties,” he said.

He added from July 1, 2023, every NPR will have a National Hospital Insurance Hospital (NHIF) medical cover.

This will be extended to their family members, said.

He said this when he graced the graduation ceremony for 200 newly trained NPR in Baringo.

They will be deployed to supplement the NPS- KDF Joint Operation Team in Baringo North and Baringo South Constituencies.

Bandits have rendered the area insecure forcing a major operation there.

The next NPR recruitment and training will be in Tiaty Constituency, Baringo County, he said.

Kindiki said an initial allocation of Sh100 million has been released for the rehabilitation of all schools that were damaged by bandits.

Kenya Defence Forces personnel will manage the reconstruction.

Another Sh100 million will be allocated in the second phase to complete the reconstruction, Kindiki added.

The government will also recruit and post an additional 100 teachers- 50 for Baringo South and 50 for Baringo North to ensure learning in the reopened schools goes on uninterrupted.

There is an ongoing operation in the region after the government declared it a disturbed area.
The military is supporting the operation.
