Father, Son Shot And Killed In Attack In West Pokot, AK47 Rifle Found On Them


A man and his son were shot and killed in a suspected retaliation incident in a village in West Pokot County.

The bodies of Lonyang Lotaiwakori and his son Kibor Lonyang both aged 67 and 28 years respectively, were found in their homes on May 21 evening after the shooting incident.

Police said they are yet to know who was behind the shooting in Saplimoi village in the Cheptulei location.

A team that visited the scene said an AK 47 rifle loaded with one round and five spent cartridges were recovered.

There is an ongoing multi-agency operation in the area aimed at restoring increasing cases of insecurity.

This has seen the military joining the exercise and more than 200 weapons recovered.

More than 200 people have in the past six months been killed in separate attacks by gunmen in the area.
