Ababu Namwamba, the Sports Cabinet Secretary, has expressed that the Government is taking steps to improve the organization of Kenyan football.
Kenya’s most beloved sport has faced many problems, with accusations of mismanagement of talent and public funds by the Football Kenya Federation.
Kenya had been banned from international football competitions by FIFA.
Namwamba has reached out to FIFA to discuss important issues and begin a dialogue.
Namwamba spoke during a hearing with the Senate Committee on Labor and Social Welfare, led by Senator Julius Murgo Abu from West Pokot.
“I have read to the senate the letter that I had written to FIFA as a ministry have taken the measures that are supposed to be taken to help us solve the problem that we are facing as a country when it comes to football management.
I will be very glad to get the response from FIFA on the letter we had written to them,” Namwamba stated.

“Every football stakeholder would like to know when we are going to hold the next elections how everything has been planned if the elections will be free and fair This is something that we have spoken about openly and the elections will held on the 24th of February next year according to the FKF constitution.”
Namwamba appeared before the Senate due to complaints from the Nairobi County Football Association, representing other counties unhappy with football management in the country.
The current FKF administration, under President Nick Mwendwa, has been in charge since February 2016.
