On the same date, a ruling will also be given in a case involving the director-general of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

The EPRA director-general is facing accusations of not following a court order when enforcing the law.

All the concerned parties presented their arguments in court regarding this matter on Wednesday.

The case of contempt against the EPRA boss was brought forward by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.

He alleges that the EPRA director-general went against a court order that had temporarily halted the implementation of the Finance Act 2023.

This happened when EPRA increased the Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel from 8% to 16% on June 30.
