Christopher Nolan, the film’s director, also claimed the Best Director award.

Cillian Murphy, portraying J. Robert Oppenheimer, expressed gratitude for Nolan’s visionary direction and the film’s unique atmosphere.

I knew the first time I walked on Christopher Nolan’s set that it was different,” Murphy stated in his acceptance speech, acknowledging the director’s “rigor, focus, dedication, and the complete lack of seating options for actors.”

Robert Downey Jr, who played US government official Lewis Strauss, received the Best Supporting Actor award and humorously commented on the film’s unexpected box office success.

He quipped, “A sweeping story about the ethical dilemma of nuclear weapons grosses $1bn?” Downey Jr also acknowledged the changes in Golden Globes membership, thanking them for “changing their game.”

In the TV categories, Succession dominated, securing wins for Best Leading TV Actor (Kieran Culkin), Best Leading TV Actress (Sarah Snook), and Best Supporting Actor (Matthew Macfadyen).

The series, centered around a media mogul and his family’s power struggles, marked its final season.

Kieran Culkin won the award for best leading TV actor

Emma Stone received the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy award for her role in Poor Things, a film exploring self-discovery and sexual awakening.

Stone expressed gratitude to director Yorgos Lanthimos and writer Tony McNamara, emphasizing the impact of her character on her perspective of life.

Other early winners in the TV categories included Steven Yeun and Ali Wong for their performances in Beef, as well as The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri.

Elizabeth Debicki received the Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series award for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown, expressing gratitude to the show’s producers.

The Golden Globes set the stage for the film awards season, culminating in the Oscars on March 10.
