Mudavadi Urges Youth Caution In Embracing Technology

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has cautioned the youth to approach technology, especially social media, with care.

He expressed concern over the tragic incidents resulting from Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and called for the implementation of robust policies and regulations to address the rising prevalence of technologically facilitated gender-based violence.

While acknowledging the positive impact of technology on society, Mudavadi emphasized the need to recognize the risks faced by young individuals on social media platforms.

He urged vigilance, as predators exploit these platforms to harm or even cause fatalities among young girls and boys.

Mudavadi condemned IPV, urging society to confront the harsh reality and raise awareness among the youth to prevent future occurrences.

He called for increased caution during online interactions, specifically addressing religious leaders to use their influence in advising and educating the youth about the potential dangers of social media schemes.

Highlighting the popularity of platforms like TikTok and Instagram, Mudavadi stressed the importance of sensitization to counteract the rising number of predators taking advantage of these sites.

Women Rights Advisor to the President, Harriette Chiggai, emphasized that IPV victims should not face condemnation and acknowledged the significant number of women and girls who have experienced violence.

Chiggai urged caution in online interactions for both girls and boys, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting survivors without re-victimization.

Chiggai reiterated the government’s explicit commitment to ending all forms of violence against women but emphasized the collective effort required from various sectors.

She called for expedited judiciary processes to address cases of intimate partner violence and assured that the government would do everything within its power to apprehend suspects.
