African Leaders Gather In Nairobi For IDA21 Summit


A high-profile summit involving nine African Heads of State and a Prime Minister has convened in Nairobi, Kenya, to take part in the International Development Association’s 21st meeting (IDA21).

The two-day event, set for April 28 and 29, is hosted at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

It aims to solidify a significant replenishment of resources for the IDA, fostering a concerted effort to tackle Africa’s development issues.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the resources obtained through this summit will be dedicated to addressing the continent’s development challenges in a manner that promotes prosperity, inclusivity, and sustainability.

By Sunday night, several leaders had already arrived in Kenya and were escorted to their accommodations.

The attending Heads of State include Andry Rajoelina (Madagascar), Julius Maada Bio (Sierra Leone), Lazarus Chakwera (Malawi), Samia Suluhu (Tanzania), and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud (Somalia).

In addition, Évariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi), Mohamed Ould Ghazouani (Mauritania), and Azali Assoumani (Comoros) are also participating. President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic arrived earlier, on Saturday.

The Côte d’Ivoire delegation is represented by Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, adding to the list of high-ranking officials attending the summit.
