Police In Moyale Confiscate Large Quantity Of Cannabis Hidden In Bean Sacks

Following a public tip-off, detectives in Moyale Sub County discovered a significant amount of cannabis concealed within four sacks of beans on Monday.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that officers responded to a call about a “suspicious person with four sacks of beans” at the Liban bus booking office, leading to a swift police response.

Upon reaching the location, the detectives found the sacks abandoned at the entrance of the bus booking office.

According to DCI’s statement on X, “Upon arrival, they discovered that the sacks had been left unattended at the entrance of the said booking office, and the owner was nowhere to be found, as he was claimed to have gone for authorization papers from KRA office.”

A sniffer dog used by the officers indicated that the contents of the sacks might be contraband.

When the sacks were transported to the DCI Moyale office and opened, they revealed 22 bales of cannabis sativa with an estimated street value of Shs.435,000.

The confiscated drugs are now held as evidence, and authorities are conducting a manhunt to apprehend those responsible, as they remain at large.
