A Japanese man who invested a significant sum to transform himself into a dog has had a change of heart, citing the physical challenges of emulating canine movements.
Toco, who spent $14,000 on a tailor-made collie ensemble back in 2022 to realize his lifelong aspiration of embodying an animal, encountered a 40-day wait as the specialized company, Zeppet, crafted his intricate dog costume.
However, the endeavor has proven more demanding than anticipated, prompting Toco to reconsider his choice.
“Dogs and humans have distinct skeletal structures and movement patterns, making it exceedingly challenging to replicate their motions,” Toco revealed.
“While I initially aimed to emulate a dog, I now contemplate embodying other creatures such as pandas, bears, foxes, or cats, which may better suit human capabilities.”
Expressing his aspirations to a Japanese media outlet, WanQol, as cited by the Daily Mail, Toco conveyed his desire to explore alternative animal identities in the future.
Previously, Toco shared his canine endeavors with an online audience of over 61,000 YouTube followers, showcasing his attempts to hurdle bars and navigate an A-frame while donning his collie attire.
The footage sparked both admiration and criticism from viewers, prompting discussions on Toco’s pursuit of dog-like agility.
Reflecting on his lifelong fascination with animals, Toco disclosed to MailOnline in May 2022, “From childhood, I harbored a longing to be an animal—a desire for metamorphosis that has persisted throughout my life.”
Preferring to keep his dual identity concealed from the public eye, Toco explained, “I choose to keep my hobbies private, particularly from colleagues, to avoid judgment.
The misconception surrounding my passion for canine emulation reinforces my decision to maintain anonymity.”
Toco’s journey underscores the complexity of personal identity and the pursuit of unconventional passions in a society often quick to pass judgment.
