Kenyan Marathoners Judith Jerubet And Daniel Muindi Banned For Doping

Kenyan marathoners Judith Jerubet, who won a bronze medal at the 2024 Wuhan Marathon, and Daniel Muindi, the silver medalist at the 2024 Lima Marathon, have been sanctioned by the world athletics anti-doping body for doping offenses.

At the Wuhan Marathon, Jerubet clocked 2:27:38 on March 24, finishing behind Ethiopia’s Mare Dibaba (2:25:12) and fellow Kenyan Pauline Chemning Korikwiang (2:26:40).

Jerubet has been handed a two-year ban for using the prohibited substance triamcinolone acetonide.

Muindi, 29, a five-time half-marathon winner in India and Poland, has received a three-year ban after a urine sample collected at the Lima Marathon in Peru on May 19 tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid norandrosterone.

He finished the Lima Marathon in 2:12:53, earning silver behind countryman Dominic Letting (2:11:48).

Both athletes face these bans as part of the Athletics Integrity Unit’s crackdown on doping while Kenya remains a Category A nation on the WADA list, requiring stringent testing for its athletes.
