British Terror Suspect Jermaine Grant Deported To The UK After Completing Jail Term

Jermaine Grant, a British terror suspect who served a prison sentence in Kenya, has been deported back to the United Kingdom.

On Thursday, Grant was flown from Kenya to the UK aboard Kenya Airways, with Kenyan security officials accompanying him.

Upon landing at Heathrow Airport, he was immediately taken into custody by British authorities.

Grant’s deportation follows a Mombasa court’s order last year, which mandated his removal upon completing his sentence.

Prosecutors had requested his deportation due to his connections with the Al-Shabaab terror group and Samantha Lewthwaite, known as the “White Widow.”

Grant was arrested in 2011 after bomb-making materials were discovered in his Mombasa apartment.

In 2019, Grant was sentenced to four years in prison for terror-related offenses and an additional nine years for passport forgery.

His criminal activities included a 2008 attempt to attack a police base and plotting a bombing campaign against hotels popular with foreign tourists.

During his arrest, Grant was found in possession of a forged Canadian passport, and his apartment contained chemicals, switches, and an explosives manual.

Lewthwaite, who is one of the world’s most wanted individuals, was believed to have fled the scene just before the police arrived.

She remains linked to several major terror attacks in Africa, including the deadly 2013 Westgate mall attack in Nairobi, which claimed over 60 lives.
