Nine Candidates Shortlisted For SRC Chairperson Role

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has announced the names of nine candidates shortlisted for the position of Chairperson, as the current chair, Lyn Mengich, prepares to exit.

The list was made public in a notice issued by Amos Gathecha, Principal Secretary for the State Department for Public Service, on Monday.

According to the notice, over 70 candidates were considered for the role.

The final nine shortlisted candidates are Osman Hassan, Juliana Mwikali, James Wahome, Geoffrey Obonyo, Abraham Kiptoo, Rachel Muga, Sammu Chepwony, and Joseph Onyango.

The interviews are scheduled for October 8 and 9, 2024, and will be held at Harambee House, Nairobi. Candidates are required to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled interview time.

They must bring original copies of essential documents such as their national ID or passport, academic and professional certificates, and transcripts.

Additional documents include clearance from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), a registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and a stamped self-declaration form from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Candidates must also provide any necessary clearance from the Commission for University Education (CUE) and recommendations from relevant professional bodies.

The public has been invited to submit any credible information about the shortlisted candidates via sworn affidavits, either in person at Harambee House or by email before 5 p.m. on October 7, 2024.

In August, President William Ruto appointed selection panels to recruit new chairpersons and members for four constitutional commissions, including the SRC, the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

This follows the upcoming expiration of the six-year terms for state officers heading these commissions.
