The Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) has launched its 13th edition of awards to recognize organisations and individuals who are making positive impact in our society.
The event was held at a Nairobi hotel where the institute chairman Joshua Wambua said that this year the organisation will also be recognising the best performing counties in the country.
Wambua said the awards are known as Champions of governance awards (COG) and its winners will be feted at a gala nite to be held in Nairobi on November 29.
Wambua too said that plans are at an advanced stage to spread the competition to other East Africa nations but maintained that it will depend more with how the Kenyan one performs.
“The awards provides a platform to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements in corporate governance, shining a spotlight on organizations and individuals who are making a significant impact in promoting good governance practices,” said Wambua.
He said that the institute reaffirms its collective commitment to the ideals of good governance, accountability, ethical leadership and values that underpin good working among organisations in the country.
“The awards was borne out of a clear need to recognize and celebrate the organizations that embody the principles of good governance whose principles form the bedrock of sustainable development, economic growth, and social cohesion,” disclosed Wambua.
He said since its launch, the COG Award has become a symbol of excellence in governance practices.
Wambua said that the awards provides a platform to shine a light on those institutions that have embraced transparency, accountability, and integrity as guiding pillars in their operations.
As ICS, we remain proud of the role this initiative plays in promoting the highest standards of governance in both the public and private sectors.
Wambua too said that ICS believes that effective governance is not only the foundation of corporate success but also the key to fostering trust, enhancing performance, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

Apart from the champions of Governance Award being awarded with a trophy or recognition,Wambua said that they will receive an endorsement of governance credentials from ICS.
He went on to say that the process leading up to the award is thorough and rigorous, ensuring that only the most deserving organizations are recognized.
Each year he said the institute refine its assessment criteria to ensure relevance and alignment with global governance standards and best practices.
“Our goal is to inspire more organizations to adopt robust governance frameworks that can withstand scrutiny and contribute to their success,”he uttered.
He also extended an invitation to potential sponsors and partners who share in the organisation vision for advancing good governance to partner with them in organising the event.
“Your financial or in-kind support will not only help to enhance the reach and impact of this award but also ensure that we continue to raise the bar for governance excellence in Kenya and beyond,”remarked Wambua.
The ICS chairman said that the support by sponsors and partners will help in making this year’s COG Award a resounding success.
