Deputy President Kithure Kindiki arrived at Maputo International Airport on Tuesday, where he was warmly received by Ambassador Philip Mundia Githiora, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Mozambique, and Ambassador Geronimo Chivavi, Mozambique’s High Commissioner to Kenya.
The Deputy President is in Maputo to represent Kenya at the highly anticipated inauguration of President-Elect Daniel Francisco Chapo, the newly elected leader of the Republic of Mozambique.

Upon his arrival, Deputy President Kindiki took part in brief discussions with Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, who was in transit from Cairo, Egypt, to Somalia.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the two officials to exchange views on matters of mutual interest between their countries, particularly on issues related to regional security and diplomatic relations.
The Deputy President’s visit to Mozambique is part of Kenya’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations within the East African region.

He is expected to participate in the official inauguration ceremony of President-Elect Chapo, who won the recent presidential elections in Mozambique.
