According to investigators, Were left Parliament Buildings around 7:00 p.m. accompanied by his driver and bodyguard.

The group made their way to City Hall Way, then proceeded to Wabera Street.

While there, the bodyguard stepped out to deposit sh 20,000 at a nearby M-Pesa shop on behalf of the MP.

Security footage from Wabera Street captured a man in a hooded jacket and carrying a bag, apparently monitoring the MP’s vehicle.

At around 7:30 p.m., the group continued their journey, opting for Ralph Bunche Road to avoid traffic on Kenyatta Avenue.

Further CCTV analysis tracked the MP’s vehicle as it moved from Argwings Kodhek Road onto Valley Road, where it eventually stopped at a traffic light.

The suspect, seen earlier on Wabera Street, reappeared on Valley Road, having followed the vehicle on a motorcycle.

The assailant reportedly dismounted the motorcycle, circled the car, and opened fire at close range shattering the window and hitting Were in the hand and chest.

His bodyguard attempted to pursue the gunman but was unsuccessful.

He then rushed the MP to Nairobi Hospital, where Were was pronounced dead on arrival.

The DCI continues to pursue leads as the search for the killer intensifies.
