Deputy President Kithure Kindiki Saturday called on Kenyans to register themselves with the Social Health Authority in order to take advantage of the medical insurance saying it will protect Kenyans from preventable and curable diseases.
Kindiki lauded the program launched by President William Ruto on Friday that saw the government paying monthly contributions for over 1.5 million indigent Kenyans that are unable to pay for the medical insurance
‘’The president launched the program for indigent Kenyans and that program initially first 2.2 Million Kenyans who are spread in 550,000 households’’ said Kindiki.
He announced that the government has set aside Sh22 billion in this year’s budget for all Kenyans who have registered themselves with SHA to be used in all public hospitals for the outpatient services.
The Inpatient services will also be catered by SHA.
‘’We are doing our best to equip our hospitals with the medicines and employing more medics.We will offer free out patient services to all those who are members of SHA in all our 9,000 hospitals and health centers which are accredited to SHA, but if you are not registered by SHA you will have to dig deep into your pockets, said Kindiki
He spoke on Saturday in Mashuru Town Kajiado East Constituency Kajiado county during the Women SACCOs Economic Empowerment Engagement where over 70 groups are set tobenefit from the funds raised.
Prof. Kindiki assured the residents of Kajiado County that the government has embarked on the infrastructure development where the construction two major roads promised that include the the 66kms of road from Ilasit-Rombo-Chala- Njukini to Taveta.
