Mob Attacks And Kills Two Men Hired To Evict Woman In Land Dispute In Tigania, Meru County


Two men were stoned to death in a confrontation at a disputed piece of land in Mikinduri, Tigania, Meru County.

The two were among a group that had been hired to help in evicting a woman in the dispute when locals turned on them.

Locals argued the group was acting wrongly as there is a pending suit in court over the land and is yet to be solved.

The locals added they had intelligence that the group planned to burn down the house belonging to the woman.

The group was armed with bows and arrows in the drama and tried to defend themselves in vain, police said of the January 28 incident.

Two of them were stoned to death. Police said their bodies were found in a nearby tea plantation and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, a man aged 80 was burnt and killed in a fire incident in Githinguri area, Muranga County.

Police identified him as Elizaphan Macharia.

He was sleeping in his house when the fire broke out killing him on Wednesday.

The cause of the fire was not immediately established.

Police said the remains of the man were picked up to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

And an autopsy on the body of a student at the Kisii School who collapsed and died confirmed he had pneumonia.

The form three student collapsed on his desk on January 28, 2026 in an incident that shocked many in the school.

Police were called to the school as part of the probe into the incident.

The autopsy confirmed he had pneumonia compounded with blood stains in the lungs.

The matter is under investigation. Police want to know what caused the condition as part of their probe.
