Nyali Aspirant Elkana Jacob Calls For Good Governance Ahead Of Elections

Journalist, criminologist, and security expert Elkana Jacob has called on Kenyans to embrace unity, coexistence, and issue-based leadership as the country heads toward the electioneering period.

Speaking over the weekend during a community engagement meeting with the Amidzi Mijikenda community at Frere Town Social Hall in Yalu, Elkana urged voters to prioritize leadership and governance credentials over political party affiliations.

He referenced constitutional principles, citing Article 10 on national values and Article 73 on leadership and integrity.

Elkana said the government remains attentive to land injustice concerns along the Coast, urging residents to remain patient and disciplined as reforms are pursued.

He emphasized that security remains central to addressing historical grievances and maintaining social stability.

During his ongoing door-to-door and community outreach tours, Elkana said he had engaged religious and community leaders including Pastor Moses of Kwa Bullo in Kadzandani Ward, Nyali, and Mzee Khamis Chokwe of Sarajevo in Frere Town.
He assured residents that lessons and mechanisms used in resolving the Waitiki land case in Likoni would be replicated in addressing land injustices across the Coast, including Nyali.

“We know how law is applied; we shall defend our people.

I can assure you that no one will be evicted from his land.

The same way Waitiki land in Likoni was solved is the way it will be solved in all areas at the Coast and here in Nyali,” he said.

He further referenced remarks by President William Ruto during a recent Coast tour, where the Head of State pledged to return after 90 days to issue title deeds to residents.

Elkana also urged voters to focus on performance-based leadership, arguing that effective representation should transcend political party loyalties.

He cited Kiharu Constituency under MP Ndindi Nyoro as an example of what he described as effective service delivery under devolution.

“Let us choose leaders and not politicians. Kenyans need leaders to tackle their issues,” he said.

Amidzi Association Chairman Ramadhan Beja clarified that the group is not a political movement, but a community-based organization focused on unity and empowerment.

He said the association seeks long-term solutions to community challenges and welcomed Elkana’s engagement with residents.

Frere Town Ward MCA Maryam Baimu also emphasized the importance of community forums, noting that such engagements strengthen unity and social cohesion.

“We must know where we’re coming from as a community.

Unity is key for any society or group to prosper,” she said.
