Man Wanted Over Murder Of Woman Who Had Sought Refuge In Trans Nzoia


Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of murdering a 36-year-old woman who had reportedly sought refuge at his home in Kwanza Sub-County, Trans Nzoia County.

A team of police responded to the incident on Sunday, July 5, 2026, after receiving reports of a suspected murder.

Preliminary investigations indicate that on the night of July 4, 2026, the man allegedly picked a quarrel with and assaulted Gladys Korot, a 36-year-old woman who had sought refuge at his home after fleeing from her husband.

Police said the suspect’s wife, who had not spent the night at the home, returned on the morning of July 5 and found Gladys unconscious and in critical condition.

Before she could receive medical attention, the woman succumbed to her injuries.

The suspect is reported to have fled before daybreak and remains at large as police intensify efforts to trace and arrest him.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from Kitale processed the scene.

The body, which had visible bruises, was moved to Kijana Wamalwa Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the body of a 68-year-old man who had been reported missing more than two weeks ago has been recovered from River Sosiani in Turbo Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County.

According to police, the body was discovered on the morning of Sunday, July 5, 2026, by a fisherman who was fishing along River Sosiani.

Police officers responded to the scene and found the lifeless body of a man, which was positively identified by relatives as David Tuluzo, 68.

Police said he had been reported missing on June 17, 2026, under an earlier occurrence book (OB) entry, and a missing person alert had been circulated.

The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

Officers from Turbo Police Station, assisted by Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel, processed the scene before the body was moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) Mortuary.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death as investigations continue.
