
There was drama when a police officer was arrested in a botched stock theft incident in Matete area, Kakamega County.
The constable of police identified as Ibrahim Maiywa Chesire was saved from being lynched by a mob following the botched incident, police said.
The incident happened at a homestead of a villager which is about 100 meters away from Matete police station.
The owner of the home told police he heard commotion from his cowshed where his cow was at about 3 am on Wednesday at about 3 am when he decided to go and check what the problem was.

It was then he stumbled on the said officer trying to steal his cow.
He raised alarm and the villagers responded detaining the officer.
They tied him and started to frogmarch him with a calf he allegedly tried to steal from the home. It was then that the police were alerted and came to his rescue.
He was led to the police station and detained pending a probe.
Police say they also detained the animal he is said to have tried to steal.
The case is under probe.
