Police In Tala, Matungulu, Machakos County are investigating an incident in which the body of a girl aged 11 and a grade five pupil at Nguluni Township primary was found hanging on a tree in a suspected suicide.
Police said the body was hanging on the rafters of their kitchen with a piece of cloth tied around her neck.
The scene was visited and no suicide note was recovered.
Police removed the body to the mortuary pending probe into the incident.
Police want to establish if she died by suicide.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a case where a man died by suicide in a village in Kiambu County.
The incident happened in Magana village, where the body of a man was seen hanging from a tree with a shirt tied around his neck.
The scene was visited and upon searching, a mobile number was recovered the recipient who is the deceased wife identified the deceased as Robert Mwangi Johana from Ndalani area in the area.
The body was later removed and taken to the mortuary pending probe.
It is not clear if he was killed or died by suicide.
Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls to address the trend.
