A 23-year-old man was killed as he struggled to fight off suspected thugs who wanted to rob him of his mobile phone and cash in Mathare, Nairobi.
Peter Mulwa was in the company of his girlfriend on Tuesday morning at about 5 am when they were confronted by a gang of four thugs.
The gang demanded cash and mobile phones from the victim before first grabbing the gadget and her door keys from the woman.
According to police citing the woman, Mulwa tried to fight off the gang prompting one of them to stab him in the collar borne.
The gang then grabbed his mobile phone and escaped on foot.
The victim was rushed to the MSF clinic in the area where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said the hunt for the suspects is ongoing.
He added the gang had also been attacking and robbing other pedestrians in the area.
He urged victims of robberies to always cooperate with their attackers.
“Nothing is worth your life. Just cooperate with such thugs for the sake of your life,” he said.
Elsewhere in Lunga Lunga slums, Nairobi, 23-year-old Richard Kerindo was stabbed to death in a robbery incident.
His body was found in a pool of blood with a wound in the neck.
