A 75-Year-Old Man Found Hanging In Kilifi

Police in Kilifi County have launched investigations into the death of a 75-year-old man who was found hanging inside his house in Rabai Sub-county.

The incident was reported on July 9, 2026, after the deceased’s son discovered his father, Nsaka Komba Mulala, hanging from the roof of his house in Chiferi Village near Bwangamoyo Primary School at around 8:30 a.m.

Police visited the scene and found the body suspended with a manila rope tied around the neck.

The deceased’s feet were resting firmly on a plastic chair.

Police said no visible physical injuries were observed on the body, and no suicide note was recovered at the scene.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was transferred to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to help establish the cause and manner of death.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.

Elsewhere, a search and rescue operation is underway for a fisherman who went missing after a fishing boat capsized in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Lamu County on Friday morning.

The incident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. when seven fishermen were fishing in deep waters before their boat overturned due to heavy ocean waves.

Six of the fishermen managed to swim safely to the shoreline, but one of them, identified as Kenga Katana, failed to resurface and remains missing.

Police officers visited the scene, while the Kenya Coast Guard Service from Mukowe Station, working alongside Beach Management Unit (BMU) divers from Shabaha, launched a coordinated search and rescue operation.

Authorities said efforts to locate the missing fisherman are ongoing.
