The unfortunate incident that occurred after a night of partying in Los Angeles had tragic consequences for Christy Giles, a 24-year-old Instagram model, and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, aged 26.
These young women engaged in festivities before accompanying individuals they had recently met back to an apartment.
Regrettably, the subsequent series of events took an unforeseen and devastating turn.
The lifeless body of Giles was discovered abandoned on the sidewalk near Southern California Hospital in Culver City around 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Shortly thereafter, Cabrales-Arzola was found in critical condition at a different hospital.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine if there are any indications of foul play in this distressing occurrence.
According to LAPD homicide detectives, there is an ongoing investigation into the possibility of sexual assault being a factor in the tragic incidents leading to Giles’ death and leaving Cabrales-Arzola in critical condition at a hospital in West Los Angeles.
Jan Cilliers, the husband of Giles who is now widowed, has expressed his suspicion that his wife, an aspiring actress with a large following on Instagram who is being mourned by her thousands of followers, and her friend, an interior designer who recently relocated to Los Angeles, may have been targeted by predators.
Cilliers said that he has seen his wife’s final text exchanges before she died.
“I’ve got all the messages that she exchanged with anybody else that night and she was texting Marcela, the girl that she was with, at 5:30 saying let’s get out of here with the wide eye emoji,” he said, adding that he believes at some point the two women became incapacitated.
Cilliers stated that upon reviewing iCloud data, no additional messages were found to have been sent or accessed thereafter.
Furthermore, Cilliers informed the publication that medical professionals had detected the presence of heroin in Cabrales-Arzola’s system, despite neither woman having a prior history of drug use.
Cilliers expressed disbelief, stating, “Marcela’s toxicology report came back, and I guess they found heroin in her system, which is nothing that either of those girls would ever do, not voluntarily.”
Police said that an overdose was a possibility, KTLA reported, although a complete autopsy from the Coroner’s Office will determine Giles’ cause of death.
According to a GoFundMe page, the friends and family of Giles seek financial support for funeral expenses and engaging a private investigator.
They have expressed concerns about three unidentified individuals wearing black masks and bandanas, who allegedly brought Giles to the hospital and later transported Cabrales-Arzola to a different medical facility, with license plates intentionally removed.
It’s important to note that official authorities have yet to provide confirmation or release information regarding potential suspects involved in the incident
The case has sparked outrage and grief among Giles’ loved ones and social media followers, who remember her as a beautiful and vibrant person who loved life.
