The Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin, Friday officiated the official closing of a three day intensive training of trainers workshop on disrupting financing of trafficking in human beings and smuggling of migrants
While addressing the course participants drawn from the Judiciary, ODPP, Kenya Police and DCI, the DCI Chief said that he was confident that the preparation will strengthen multidisciplinary cooperation on Financial investigations, and will go a long way in disrupting the financing of trafficking in human beings and smuggling of migrants criminal networks.
Amin appreciated the European Union, CIVIPOL and other facilitators for coming up with such a comprehensive program aimed at enhancing the investigative capabilities of our officers in dealing with trafficking of human beings and smuggling of migrants.
“Such collaborative programmes will boost the productivity of experts in various fields, who will then impart the knowledge learnt to defeat financing in trafficking of humans, through exchange of best practices,” he said.
Meanwhile, the DCI Director of training Edwin Kamau expressed confidence that the participants had acquired the skills and much needed network to deliver, adding that the knowledge would make them efficient in countering crimes related to human trafficking.
On his part, CIVIPOL Regional Coordinator Marco BUFO expressed optimism that the concerted efforts which were being employed to curb the menace would be fruitful, given the knowledge that frontline officers were acquiring from such trainings.
