At least ten people were Tuesday arrested in ongoing clashes between the Mbeere and Meru people in Siakago Town, Embu Town.
The clashes which started on Monday have stalled operations in the town amid efforts to contain the same.
The clashes pitied the Mbeere people and those from Meru who operate in the area and broke out on Monday August 11 on claims of theft of motorcycles.
At least six kioks, a timber yard, a motorcycle and a transformer were burnt down in the chaos.
Police said they recovered arrows and machetes from the arrested suspects.
More than 50 people from Meru who had been displaced from their residencies were hosted at the Siakago police station for two days before being escorted to Meru town on Tuesday evening, police said.
More police officers were sent to the area to contain rising tension amid fears of more attacks on shops and other installations.
Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku said he had moved to de-escalate the tensions.
Speaking when he visited the volatile Siakago town, Ruku condemned the unrest and pledged government support to residents who suffered losses during the chaos.
He assured business owners that compensation would be provided to those whose enterprises were damaged or looted.
