On Wednesday, at least seven people were killed in separate standoffs between police and anti-government protestors in the country.
The incidents happened in Machakos, Makueni, Nairobi, and Kajiado Counties.
At least ten others are nursing bullet wounds in hospitals.
Police said three of the deceased persons were gunned down around the Mlolongo Expressway Toll Station after barricading and vandalizing the road which in turn disrupted traffic on the route.
Police say that the protestors, who allegedly also hurled stones at a Quick Mart Supermarket adjacent to the toll station, wanted to loot the booth after destroying the Mlolongo Expressway wall prompting the shooting.
Police secured the critical infrastructure unit and closed the expressway, further paralyzing traffic on the route that connects Mlolongo to Nairobi.
The two others were killed in Kitengela after a group tried to raid the local county commissioner’s office.
The protesters destroyed crucial documents.
Another person had been shot and killed in Emali, Makueni County in a confrontation between police and protesters.
Two vehicles were burnt in the chaos.
Police said they recorded a death in the Mathare area, Nairobi.
The end is being investigated.
One person died while four others including a police officer are hospitalized at Sigowet Sub County hospital in Sigowet/Soin sub-county after a violent clash between two communities at Sondu in the border of Kericho and Kisumu counties.
Police said the deceased was stabbed in the neck before being hacked in his head during the confrontation.
Two others were shot with arrows and rushed to the hospital with arrows lodged in their bodies.
Police said they expected the toll to increase as the running battles went on to the night.
The chaos seemed overwhelming to authorities until after 3 pm when more personnel were sent to the Expressway to disperse a mob that had blocked the road.
Police were battling with groups in various parts of the country.
