A group of bar proprietors in Embu have voiced their endorsement for government measures aimed at curbing the sale of harmful alcohol, emphasizing the necessity for stricter control over the production and distribution of industrial ethanol.
Expressing their support, retired Senior District Commissioner John Ireri, along with other bar owners primarily situated in Mbeere South, commended the government’s initiative to address the hazardous effects of certain alcoholic products.
They highlighted the significant toll these substances have taken on individuals, leading to loss of life and hindering societal productivity.
In a statement released to the press, the bar owners emphasized the importance of governmental oversight in monitoring the production and distribution of ethanol from factories.
They stressed the need for responsible allocation of ethanol resources to authorized manufacturers for the production of safe goods.
Antony Njue and Esther Ireri, prominent members of the group, urged the public to collaborate with law enforcement agencies in identifying and reporting locations where prohibited alcohol brands are being stored and sold clandestinely.
