Police in Kuria West, Migori County, are investigating the drowning of a boy, 17 in a river.
Kuria West police commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the boy’s body, identified as Alex Ochieng, was found in River Migori.
Kimaiyo said the deceased drowned in the river while on a swimming expedition in his brother’s company.
He said the police have launched an investigation to establish what transpired before the boy died.
The body was moved to Ojele Memorial Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
The police commander urged parents to be vigilant and restrain their children from accessing rivers to mitigate such occurrences.
This follows similar cases of children drowning in the Jua-Kali river during swimming expeditions last year.
