A group of officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Kenya Revenue Authority has undergone through container investigations course.
This is meant to enhance the two agencies’ capacity to deal with border crimes perpetuated through containers getting into the country.
DCI Mohammed Amin Friday presided over the closing ceremony of the course conducted in Mombasa county, which targeted 20 officers
Amin noted that the course couldn’t have come at a better time, as the government is currently engaged in an all-out war on counterfeit products most of which get into the country through containers, and deny the government the much-needed revenue for development.
The DCI chief added that this challenge was not unique to Kenya alone but a global situation that posed a severe threat to the international trade supply and sustainable development.
The course was made possible through the support of the British High Commission.
Counterfeit products have flooded the Kenyan market courtesy of corruption and smuggling.
