Broad-Based Committee Formed as ODM and UDA Strengthen Political Collaboration

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on Thursday held a joint consultative meeting bringing together the UDA Steering Committee and ODM’s Central Management Committee, signaling a deepening of political cooperation between the two parties.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening collaboration and identifying areas of mutual interest.

In a key resolution, members mandated their respective party chairpersons to spearhead structured and regular consultations across party organs, aimed at fostering consensus on priority national issues.

The two sides indicated that these sustained engagements are intended to lay the groundwork for a possible “coalition of equals” between ODM and UDA—an arrangement that could significantly reshape Kenya’s political landscape.

As part of the agreement, party leaders also resolved to establish a Broad-Based Management Committee.

The committee will comprise party leaders, selected Cabinet Ministers, as well as Majority and Minority Leaders in Parliament. Its mandate will be to coordinate and align the legislative and executive agenda, with the goal of enhancing policy coherence, efficiency, and service delivery.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue, unity of purpose, and a shared vision for inclusive governance and national development.

The meeting brought together key figures including President William Ruto of UDA and ODM leader Oburu Oginga.
