Authorities in Busia are intensifying efforts to apprehend two suspected drug traffickers who managed to evade capture, abandoning seven sacks of refined bhang worth an estimated Sh13 million.
The discovery occurred during routine patrol duties along the Busia-Kisumu road in the Ratike area, where officers stumbled upon the narcotics left beside the road.
Evidence of disturbed vegetation nearby suggests that criminals were monitoring police activities, anticipating an opportunity to seize the cargo.
Despite the perpetrators’ escape, vigilant officers remained at the scene until a police vehicle arrived to transport the entire 451kg haul to Busia Police Station for safekeeping.
With the exhibit secured, law enforcement authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to track down the elusive suspects responsible for the attempted drug trafficking.
