A butcher who made headlines for mutilating another man’s genitals over a Ksh.50 debt, will remain in custody for 13 days while awaiting a probation report.
This will determine if Isaac Gachoki is eligible for release on bond.
The order was issued by the Kerugoya Law Courts Principal Magistrate Claire Wanyama when the suspect was arraigned before her on Wednesday.
Gachoki reportedly committed the offence on February 7, attacking and stabbing Japhiter Muthii multiple times in the scrotum after he went to ask for his Sh50 balance for work done for the main suspect, police said.
Muthii was later taken to a local clinic before being referred to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital, where he underwent scrotum reconstruction surgery.
Doctors said they have managed to rectify the scrotum and for now his genitals are safe.
The incident prompted protests in the area with a mob trying to burn down the butchery.
Police protected it.
