An additional 144 police personnel were sent to Haiti by Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The 600 officers now serving as part of Kenya’s leadership in the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti will be bolstered by an additional contingent, which consists of 120 men and 24 women.
With considerable momentum, the mission is still expanding in terms of both the number of troops and outside backing.

Along with nations like Guatemala and El Salvador, the Kenyan government has been putting a lot of effort to lessen gang violence in Haiti.
The goal of the combined efforts of the police forces in Kenya, Jamaica, Belize, and Haiti is to restore order to the Caribbean country, which has been facing more security difficulties.
Kenya has historically contributed to peacekeeping and peace assistance efforts around the world, and Cabinet Secretary Murkomen underlined the significance of Kenya’s leadership in this task.
The international community strongly supports the MSS mission in Haiti, which is funded by the UN Trust Fund for Haiti, which was created by UN Security Council Resolution 2699.

Murkomen also praised the United States’ steadfast support, which has been essential in furthering the mission’s objectives through finance and equipment help.
The National Police Service Inspector General, Mr. Douglas Kanja; Dr. Raymond Omollo, Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration; Dr. Korir Sing’Oei, Principal Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs; Dr. Monica Juma, National Security Advisor to the President; and Mr. Joseph Boinnet, Deputy National Security Advisor, were among the high-ranking government officials who attended the event.
Kenya’s continued commitment to supporting international peace and security initiatives includes the deployment of the officers, with Haiti gaining from Kenya’s experience in peacekeeping missions.
