China has raised concerns with Myanmar following an incident where five individuals were wounded by artillery shells during clashes between Myanmar’s junta and rebel groups near the border.
The conflict in Myanmar’s north has escalated since late October, prompting China to call for a ceasefire and facilitate dialogue between the conflicting parties.
Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, expressed strong disapproval of the casualties and emphasized that China has lodged serious representations with the relevant parties.
He urged all parties involved to cease fire, stop fighting, and take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Wang assured that China would take necessary steps to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.

The state-run Global Times reported that five people in the subtropical town of Nansan, near Myanmar, were hospitalized after being wounded by stray shells.
A video circulated on social media depicted the aftermath, with officials in Zhenkang confirming that the shelling had strayed from Laukkai in Myanmar’s Kokang region.
This incident follows a warning from China’s embassy in Myanmar, urging its nationals to leave Laukkai due to growing security risks.
Kokang, located in Myanmar’s Shan state, has been a volatile region for years.
In 2015, shells from the area landed across the border in Yunnan, causing injuries and angering Beijing.
Similar clashes occurred in 2009, forcing thousands to flee across the China-Myanmar border.
The United Nations estimated that over 660,000 people had been displaced in Myanmar since October 27, with a nationwide total of 2.6 million.
China has advised its citizens to avoid travel to northern Myanmar and urged those already there to seek safety or return home.
