Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to collaborate closely with County Health Promoters to strengthen healthcare services, aiming to detect diseases early and reduce treatment costs.
Speaking in Nyahururu, Laikipia County, Mr. Gachagua emphasized the importance of fully implementing the Community Health Promoters (CHP) program.
He highlighted that the national government has already disbursed monthly stipends for the 107,000 deployed Health Promoters across the nation to facilitate the program’s execution.
Expressing admiration for the dedication of the CHPs, Gachagua emphasized their role in providing preventive healthcare services and aiding in the early detection of lifestyle diseases.
During the inauguration of the newly constructed Mother and Child Unit at Nyahururu County Referral Hospital, Mr. Gachagua assured that the CHPs had been equipped adequately to ensure the program’s success.
Additionally, he underscored the collaborative efforts between the national and county governments to ensure effective implementation of the program at the grassroots level.
Mr. Gachagua announced plans for the construction of a new Outpatient Wing at the Referral Hospital in partnership with the Laikipia government, aiming to expand healthcare accessibility.
In praising the unity and cooperation among Laikipia leaders for driving development, Mr. Gachagua urged leaders from other countries to emulate such solidarity.
Reflecting on the progress made in development projects, including road construction and land ownership regularization, Mr. Gachagua acknowledged the challenges inherited by the government but highlighted the strides taken in addressing them.
Accompanying Mr. Gachagua were Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha, Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu, other county officials, and various MPs and MCAs from the region.
The event marked a commitment to collaborative efforts in enhancing healthcare services and fostering development at the local level.
