Detectives are currently probing a tragic case involving the brutal defilement and murder of a 14-year-old girl in the Likia area of Njoro, Nakuru.
Police have not yet determined the motive behind this horrific act.
The young victim, a Grade 6 student, was discovered in a maize field on the morning of Saturday, September 21, long after her death.
Authorities believe she was assaulted before being murdered.
Initial investigations suggest that she was on her way home the previous day when she was abducted and taken to the maize plantation, where she ultimately lost her life by strangulation following the assault.
Visible injuries were found around her neck when her body was discovered.
The remains have been transported to Egerton Hospital Morgue for a postmortem analysis.
A dedicated team of detectives is currently on-site, searching for the individual responsible for this crime.
In a separate but related incident, a suspect was killed by a mob following claims of his involvement in a robbery and murder at Kenyatta Market in Nairobi.
Witnesses report that a man in his thirties was stoned to death after allegedly stabbing a victim during a botched robbery attempt.
The stabbing occurred on Saturday night, and the wounded man later died in the hospital.
Locals, aware of the ongoing situation, tracked down the suspect and took justice into their own hands.
Police were quick to arrive at the scene and have since moved the assailant’s body to the mortuary.
The deceased robbery victim is now at the Mbagathi Hospital Mortuary.
Authorities are investigating both cases in hopes of reaching a resolution.
