Critical medical services ground to a halt on Friday across Nairobi, Rift Valley, and Nyanza regions as the doctor’s strike continued into its ninth day nationwide.
Medical professionals, rallying in Nairobi and Uasin Gishu counties, demanded the immediate resignation of Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha, alleging negligence towards their grievances.
They pledged to prolong the strike until their demands were addressed.

According to Dr. Davji Atellah, Secretary General of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), who led the march to Afya House, “We will not stop until our demands are met.
None of us will yield to their threats, because we know that when we’re united, we will not beg but bargain; they must post interns.”
In Uasin Gishu County, hundreds of doctors, under the leadership of KMPDU Rift Valley Secretary General Jackson Kimonzi, stayed away from hospitals and other medical facilities.
They demonstrated in Eldoret town, disrupting traffic for over five hours.
Kimonzi emphasized, “We will return to work once our demands are met.”
In Kisii County, KMPDU Nyanza Secretary General Aggrey Orwenyo highlighted the deteriorating health crisis and urged CS Nakhumicha to intervene, stating, “The CS Nakhumicha is not serious with her docket, and is taking the doctors’ strike as a small issue.”
In Nyamira County, Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria assured that the government was prepared to resolve the impasse.
He affirmed the government’s commitment to finding a solution to the crisis.
