Elon Musk recently confirmed that he and his former partner, Grimes, have welcomed their third child together, and just like their previous children, this one has an unusual name.
Musk, who owns the social network X (formerly Twitter), made the announcement on a Sunday.
Their newest addition is named Tau Techno Mechanicus, as shared by the technology billionaire.
This revelation came as a response to a post from the entertainment news account Pop Base, which listed the names of Musk and Grimes’ three children as “X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, Techno Mechanicus.”
Even though Musk and Grimes officially separated in September 2021, the Canadian singer, whose real name is Claire Boucher, has described their relationship status as “very fluid.”
In a March 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, Grimes revealed that Exa Dark Sideræl Musk was born in December 2021 through a surrogate.
Interestingly, the couple had no intention of announcing the birth of their second child, humorously nicknamed “Y,” until Grimes accidentally shared the news when a journalist overheard a baby crying.
Before Tau Techno Mechanicus, Grimes and Musk welcomed their first child, X Æ A-Xii, in May 2020.
It’s worth noting that Musk, aged 48, has five other children from a previous marriage: twins named Griffin and Vivian and triplets named Damian, Saxon, and Kai.
Additionally, it was revealed on September 6 that Musk has 16-month-old twins named Strider and Azure with Shivon Zilis, an executive at Neuralink, a company owned by Musk, which aims to develop an implantable computer chip for the human brain.
Musk has also expressed concern about the declining birth rate in the USA, stating on Twitter in May 2022 that it has been below sustainable levels for about five decades.
He reiterated this concern in July, emphasizing that a decreasing birth rate is a significant threat to civilization.
“Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis,” he posted.
“A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces by far.”
To summarize, Elon Musk and Grimes have welcomed their third child, Tau Techno Mechanicus, joining their unique-sounding siblings, and Musk has been vocal about his concerns regarding declining birth rates in the United States.
