Tragedy struck on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway near the Sayatu area as a matatu, transporting passengers of Eritrean nationality, collided with a stationary truck, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries.
The 11-seater matatu, operated by Eldoret Shuttles, was en route to Eldoret when the accident occurred.
According to reports from the Salgaa police station, the truck had experienced mechanical issues and was parked without any warning signals, contributing to the collision.

“The survivors were swiftly taken to Nakuru County Hospital; however, communication barriers hindered immediate identification.
Sadly, two individuals succumbed to their injuries during treatment, while twelve others sustained varying degrees of harm and are currently receiving medical attention,” stated the police report.
Authorities have transferred the deceased to the Nakuru County morgue for identification and postmortem examinations.
