Two individuals lost their lives, and numerous others were injured in a collision involving a Northrift shuttle Matatu and an Eldoret Express bus along the bustling Nakuru-Gilgil road on Wednesday.

Digital, the accident happened when the bus driver attempted to pass a line of cars and crashed into an approaching Matatu.

The Matatu swerved to avoid the collision but was still hit on its side.
“The driver of vehicle Registration KCP 045F was heading towards Naivasha when it suddenly overtook a line of vehicles, causing the driver of vehicle Registration KDH 330E to veer left to prevent a head-on collision.
Unfortunately, the bus hit the Matatu on its right side, pushing it into a ditch,” explained the police report.
At the time of the accident, the Northrift shuttle Matatu was carrying ten passengers.
Two individuals died immediately, while several others sustained injuries and were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital.
Additionally, numerous passengers on the Eldoret Express bus suffered minor injuries due to the impact on the front right side.
One of the injured was a police officer from GSU Embakasi, who suffered a forehead laceration.
The deceased has been relocated to the mortuary at Gilgil sub-county hospital pending further investigation into the incident.
